The Sphinx Head is a rock formation at Old Man’s Cave State Park. You can see it quite clearly from the trail and it is marked with a trail marker placed at the best vantage point to view it. The picture below shows what it looks like today and the picture that follows shows what it looked like in the 1940’s. The color pictures are the present time and the black and whites are from the past. The most noticeable difference that I can see is erosion of his nose and chin.
Click HERE to see a trail map of the park to see where the Sphinx Head is located. Basically, you need to go in the main entrance and just past the Welcome Center take the trail to the right and past Old Man’s Cave you will find the Sphinx Head.
