Learn to Fly
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW…
Learning to fly and learning to pilot a plane is an amazing and special experience. Learning how to fly is fun, and requires dedication, determination and focus.
HOW MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?
You start becoming a pilot by attending “Ground School” (about 38 hours of classes). Then, a minimum of 40 hours of flying is needed, when you will learn everything you should know about navigation, weather, maneuvers, and more. Plan on about 3 to 4 months of lessons.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The average cost is $3,900 to $4,500 for lessons and plane rental. That’s $115.00 per hour and includes the cost ($235.00) of books and materials used in Ground School. (prices subject to change without notice)
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
It all starts with Ground School, where you take a 38-hour course using book materials and visual aids. (materials included)

Hocking Hills Yoga Studio
Hocking Hills Yoga studio is excited to partner with Hocking Hills Winery to bring yoga classes to the winery. Exercise such as yoga has many benefits, including stress reduction, improved fitness and management of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure. Yoga at the Winery is also a great opportunity to meet new people or a healthful reason to get together with friends!
About the Instructor
Kristen is a Yoga Alliance certified instructor (RYT 200). She studied at It’s Yoga – Cincinnati and completed the certification program there in 2012. After teaching for three years at It’s Yoga and other Cincinnati locations, Kristen relocated to Athens, OH. She now teaches both group and private yoga lessons in a variety of styles including Vinyasa, Ashtanga, and restorative.
Kristen believes that anyone can practice yoga if they will slow down and tune into their breath. She enjoys helping students learn how they can use yoga to transform their lives. Kristen creatively structures each yoga practice with the guideline of “work smarter, not harder“. She crafts each practice to be fun, safe, and unique.

Please read before attending yoga class:
Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class in order to sign the waiver and make payments. You can print and fill out the waiver at home by clicking the waiver link: Yoga Waiver.
Notify the instructor of any injuries or conditions that may affect your ability to perform exercise.
If possible, bring a yoga mat. The instructor has a limited amount of mats for rental and sale which will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Blocks and other props will be provided.
Wear soft and comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movement. Please exercise good hygiene and do not wear strong fragrances to class, as these can interrupt the breath-based practice.
Come with an open mind and be prepared to sweat!

Day Trips to Lancaster, Ohio
COOKING SCHOOL at SHAW’S RESTAURANT
Susie Cork, the general manager of Shaw’s Restaurant and Inn, also offers cooking classes in Shaw’s newly renovated Cooking Studio in Lancaster, Ohio – the county next to Hocking County.
“I want to inspire, give them confidence to cook at home,” said Cork, who is a graduate of the Culinary School at Kendall College and has been a chef in Chicago for 17 years.
Cork interacts, entertains, and educates her class as she prepares her culinary delights. The class is limited to about 14 people and is held every Saturday for about two hours.

ONE DAY CLASSES:
Blown Glass Ornaments
Pick the colors you want to apply to the glass and with the help of our instructor you will see the piece take shape as you add the air to inflate your very own ornament. A glass hook
will be added and the ornament will be annealed and ready the next day.

Blown Glass Witches Ball
Similar to our blown ornaments but these orbs will have an interior design of glass strings that was believed in some cultures to entice and trap evil spirits. They were hung in the windows of homes for protection.

Blown Glass Pumpkin
Pick the colors you want to apply to the glass and with the help of our instructor you will see how the piece is shaped up into a pumpkin. After a stem is put on top the pumpkin will be annealed and ready the next day

“Pulled” Glass Flower
With our instructors guidance you will pick the colors to be applied to the glass and use glass working tools to shape the glass into a flower including the pulling of the stem.
$45 per flower for members $50 per flower for non-members
Gather molten glass from the furnace, apply colors and shape using glass working tools to make your one of a kind masterpiece. Our instructor will guide you through. These will be annealed and ready to pick up the next day.

Glass Heart Paperweight
Like our regular paperweight class except you will use glass tools to shape and sculpt the paperweight into the shape of a heart.

Glass Pumpkin Paperweight
You will be guided through the process of making a paperweight but will give the piece its pumpkin look by pressing it into an optic mold. The piece will be topped off with a unique stem to give it that one of a kind look.

March thru October – Second Sunday Beadmaking
Join us on a new monthly creative adventure! Theresa will be narrating and performing live glass beadmaking demonstrations as part of your OGM tour. She will also offer a 20 minute private lesson to make a glass bead between 1-4pm. Call ahead to make a reservation. Walk-in students welcome. $18 members, $20 non-members to make a bead.
Flameworked glass beads
3 week class, 3 hours each class, once a week for 3 weeks: Learn the essentials of making your own glass beads at a torch! We will explore different shapes of beads, fun surface decoration, and also sculptural beads. You will make enough beads to take home and create several necklaces and earring sets.
This class is for beginners, no experience necessary.
Maximum of 6 students. $180 members, $200 non-members
2 hour workshop: Learn the basics of making glass beads at a torch! Proper melting and shaping techniques will be taught, as well as fun surface decoration! Beads will need to anneal overnight, and will be ready to pick up the next day. This is a good beginner experience, helping you decide if you’d like to take a longer class. No experience necessary.
Maximum of 6 students. $50 members, $60 non-members
Pandora bracelet beads
2 hour workshop: Pandora bracelets are all the rage right now. Come learn to make your own unique beads for your bracelet from our colored glass at the torch! These will be all-glass beads that you create from our beautiful selection of colored glasses. You will make it special by applying colored glass surface decoration to it. Beads need to anneal overnight and will be ready for pick up the next day. No experience necessary.
Maximum of 6 students. $50 members, $60 non-members
2 hour workshop: Choose from our many colors of beautiful glass to make your own glass heart pendant at the torch! You will learn how to melt the glass and shape it into a unique heart that you can later string on a necklace. This is a fun experience for couples! Make one for yourself or to give to a loved one. Beads need to anneal overnight and will be ready for pick up the next day. No experience necessary.
