What a difference a year makes. Now try 75 years. This photo collection is rare. I have never seen pictures of the parks like these unless they were from a very old post card. I am a history buff and am glad I had the opportunity to preserve these photos for future generations.
The Photo at the right is now the “Naturalist’s Cabin” at Old Man’s Cave State Park where most of his tours begin. It’s funny that in the beginning this was the rangers station for the whole park and now it has naturalist exhibits inside of it. I also like the uniforms that a park ranger had at the time. It looks similar in my mind to a Canadian Mounty uniform. They even had a hat like a police man. So interesting how things have changed over the years.
Next time you come to the Hocking Hills, take a picture from the same vantage point as these older pictures. I know things have changed, but seeing is believing. If you do that, email me the results. I would love to post them so everyone could see the difference from these old black and whites.
