Hocking Hills Outdoor Activities
Canoe the Hocking River
Canoeing down the Hocking River is a great way to gain a new perspective of Hocking County. The view from a canoe, kayak or raft is a peaceful way to spend a hot summer afternoon or a beautiful fall day. I always experience tranquility on the water that I find is hard to describe.
My kids love to “park” along the river and go for a quick and cooling dip in the water. It always reminds me of the kids who used to go swimming in the local “swimming hole”.
The Hocking County is a “lazy” river. There are no dangerous rapids to worry about. I always take the shortest route because it is just long enough to be fun.
At the present time there are two different canoe liveries in Hocking County.
Fox’s Hocking Hills Canoe Livery – 12789 State Route 664 S, Logan, Ohio 740-385-0523 or 1-800-634-6820. www.hockingriver.com
Hocking Hills Adventures -31251 Chieftain Drive, Logan, -740-385-8685 or 800-686-0386 www.hockinghillscanoeing.com
I highly recommend a trip down the river. It’s an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon in the Hocking Hills.
